This is a very informative website if you are interested in learning about the early discovery of the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell.It tells about the subsequent start of the Bell Telephone Company and its progress. The website explains that in 1878 a manual switchboard was created that linked many phones together. Can you image if our technology was still the same today? Today, we rarely even visit people in person, we just call them on the phone, or even worse, we email them to see how they are doing! If you look at this website, you will learn how the telephone evolved from where it started to where it is today. It amazes me how scientists think these things up. Who would ever think of transmitting electricity over a wire? This site gives instructions on how to build Leyden jars.
