Please give us a short summary of your website?
Portal for voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) services and products. We inform our users about where they can get services such as free phone calls, free teleconferencing, free sms text and video chat services
What inspired you to launch your own website?
I work in the IT field and became interested in VoIP a few years ago so I built the site to provide information and to generat revenue for other projects
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
fonecalls4free.com was my first site and it was launched in 2004. I have redesigned it about three times since then, now it's running on wordpress.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Nothing scientific really, it just sounded catchy!
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
I have not tried to do anything different to many of the other websites in the niche
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
because this was my first site and I would like to think it has been a small success I want to keep it and from time to time upgrade it with more content about new telecommunication products
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
I've actually spent very little time on the site since I build it. It avarage's about 250 visitors per day from over 30 countries. It has several number 1 to 5 positions in Google and Yahoo for some good keywords.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I have thought about reselling voip products and services so maybe that would be the direction I'd look to develop
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
That would be great! but no I would not be able to manage all the tasks that goes with this type of service. It would have to be supportd 24/7 so I would have to employ additional staff
What has been your biggest challenge?
Well it doesn't matter where you live or what language you speak we all want to communicate as cheaply as possible, I have tried to provide the content in as many as 13 different languages and getting high positions in the foreign search engines but this is not easy, it's very time consuming.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
I have concentrated on using keywords and finding link partners, I also provide links in a lot of socialbookmarking sites. There's lot more I can and should do when time permits
