Name of your website?Message On Hold Productions
Your name?
Vanessa Petrovich
Your Location (city, etc)
Victoria, B.C.
Please give us a short summary of your website?
We are a Canadian On Hold Marketing provider since 1995. Advertising on hold is a cost effective advertising medium to callers on hold and it works. We offer flexible service options to suit any budget and professional productions services.
What inspired you to launch your own website?
It was initially a reference point for prospective or existing customers to get an overview of who we were and what we had to offer. We were seeking local customers and not worrying about online competitors or google page ranking when our first site went up.
When did you launch your first website, and what was it?
I think it was in 1996. It wasn't a dot com but rather an @something or other.
How did you decide on a name for your website?
Took the name of our company which includes the acronym for the service we offered.
What makes it different from other, similar offerings?
We offer Message On Hold service as a package OR A La Carte. The majority of providers in Canada only lease systems. i.e. the productions and equipment for a monthly fee. We offer lease systems to those who want it but we also offer production only services and will equipment sales to those who want to buy.
What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)
Eventually sell.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
The time investment is huge. Success is measured by satisfied customers that know you're working for them.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would probably want to manufacturer and sell a user friendly on hold player for the Canadian market. Also invest in a music library for On Hold use only.
If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes
What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?
Due to the nature of our business we have to compete with companies all over North America even in our local area. It has driven prices down although the cost of doing business has remained the same.
What has been your biggest challenge?
Keeping up with the competition.
What method has been most successful for promoting your website?
Specific advertising.
How has running your website differed from your expectations?
I had no idea how much work I had to do even when paying someone else to do it!
How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
We've had a website since 1996 we don't rely on it to bring in the total of our sales so it will remain as long we're open for business.
What is your website address?
